Gangasagar is a small village in West Bengal. Gangasagar is famous for the sacred Gangasagar Mela, a major annual pilgrimage to the confluence of the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal, where millions of pilgrims take a holy dip on Makar Sankranti. The site also holds the ancient Kapil Muni Ashram which is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and has lots of significance from Hindu mythology.
